Three Things I Learned Listening to NPR

I’ve been doing some traveling lately and a lot of radio listening. Here are three stories that kept me from falling asleep as I stared blankly at Iowa’s frozen wasteland/barren beauty.

1. One Cold Hand — An art student in Pittsburgh created a Web site (www.onecoldhand.com) filled with photos of winter gloves she and her friends have found. They’re hoping to facilitate glove-owner reunions. A few pairs have been reunited. (Sniff.)

When they pick up a glove, they leave behind a sticker with the web address in case the owner comes back to look. The site is just one more reason I’m starting to think this Interweb is going to catch on.

2. Stock Chart Art — New York stock trader Tom Moran turns market ups and downs into art. You can listen to the story here. An example of his art is below.

3. Greensburg goes green — That Kansas town wiped off the map by a tornado last spring is being rebuilt using environmentally friendly technology.  Residents are hoping to make it “the greenest town in America.” Here’s the story.
