Iowans love our State Fair, except when it spills a suspicious white powder on them. From the AP via the SC Journal:
A powdery substance that led to a lockdown at a Des Moines radio station has turned out to be cookie mix contained in a promotional packet from the Iowa State Fair.
The powder poured out of the corner of a box onto an employee’s shirt and desk at KSTZ-FM on Wednesday.
Employees called police, who quarantined the building for about 30 minutes while they investigated.
And the radio station wasn’t the only media outlet that had an anxious moment or two. Quad-City Times Editor Steve Thomas posted this on Twitter earlier today:
White powder spilled out of a mail package I opened at work Wednesday. Turned out to be cookie mix from state fair PR. It got my attention.
Next year, the fair plans to send a bundle of pipes wired to a clock.
